Yo yo yo! This is our second Fresh Friday, and we are excited to release out Flower Power bandana, dog bandana and headband! In case you missed our Fresh Friday from last week (and our first ever!) these are super quick blog posts where we release our bandana design and give you a bit of insight into meaning and process of creation!
We drew visual inspiration from hippie visual culture from the 1960's and 1970's for this bandana. We think it turned out pretty groovy, man.
One of the difficult things about testing and creating new designs for bandanas is balancing aesthetics when folded versus when flat. Think of the classic paisley bandana design; one of the design elements that makes such a classic aesthetic work so well is interweaving large and small design elements. We tried to do this with Flower Power's small and large daisy flowers, and the effect turned out quite nicely!
In the spirit of hippie culture (we are not using that term in vain by the way, if you know us personally you know we are pretty huge hippies ourselves) - we wanted to add a twist of environmentalism to this bandana. All of our bandanas use repurposed, green (as in safe, not the color) inks and dying methods; but for this bandana we needed to take it a step futher. We ended up getting in touch with Greenpeace Canada and setting up a 5% donation from all sales of this bandana. If you wanted to make your own donation as well, here is a link!
We would love to hear what you think! Drop us a comment on our Instagram or Facebook pages and tell us how you feel about our Flower Power bandana! Also feel free to leave a comment here on our blog, it helps us get found by other bandana lovers! Stay tuned for Fresh Friday next week, and thank you so much for reading <3
